There are many ways to protest: Here is Shiauyu Huang (黃小鈺) from 恕 Solemn with a drum cover of In Waves, by Trivium.
Shiauyu has a YT channel full of metal drumming covers and ‘drum-cam’ clips of live Solemn songs. She’s a powerhouse! =D
The band are currently recording a new album.
By the way, she uses second hi-hat cymbal set on the right side (her right!) of her kit, you can get a much better view of it in those drum-cam videos on YT.

TRADE PACT SIEGE: Spring Scream hype muted by Sunflower movement – Taipei Times

The Taipei Times has been so helpful to me during the protest, I don’t know if it is the definitive English news source, but it’s very informative.

This video was shot from so far from the stage, you can’t see the band, but the sound is pretty good. =)
Fire EX. (滅火器), with Goodnight Taiwan, from their 2009 album, 海上的人 (Standing Here). Lyrics HERE.
Goodnight Taiwan (晚安台灣) was adopted as a rallying song for the protest early on; a few days ago, the band wrote & released a new song called Island Sunrise, dedicated to the movement. (Posted HERE)
Watching this clip as the camera pans around, you can get an appreciation for what goes into an immense gathering like this: Huge stage, lighting, audio, video screen, crowd control, porta-potties, tv satellite trucks, medical staff, etc..

Debbie Hsiao did her best for Taiwan democracy, Times Square, NYC!
I’m looking for a news link for this NYC gathering, anybody have one for us?
Update: Debbie posted a video of her singing a song, you have to watch at her fb HERE:. At the very end, the camera pans around, and you can see a crowd assembled in Time Square. She sounds great, she really poured her heart into this performance!

Best photo I’ve seen of the Taipei Ketagalan Boulevard Democracy march. Another very interesting read! This article is by David Frazier, and quotes extensively from Deserts fb posting. (Frazier also notes that Deserts lost a big gig in Beijing last November, following a display of the flag of Taiwan at her show in Manchester, England.)
