Pop-Punk from Kaohsiung, 草地人 The Locals. 陳中 has their Summer Super Slippa posted. They call their style ‘humor punk’, so maybe the lyrics are risqué or naughty, lol. =D

Pry open your wallet and buy this 3-song ep! Official release date is Aug. 7th, but you can hear the first 2 songs now, both are excellent! Suggested price is $3., which is a bargain even for the 2 songs I just now heard! =D

It really bugs me that there’s no representation from Taipei, Taichung or Kaohsiung. Such a no-brainer way to turn the world on to the TW indies. As long as I’m venting my spleen, the same goes for Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur. Some of these cities already have (or had) a dedicated YT channel for live indies. What’s preventing Stage-Tube HK, CRI Sound Stage in China, or Thewknd in Malaysia from making a regular video for an international channel? The lack of a porch/patio/balcony/rooftop/dock? COME ON!
The current Asian Balcony TV cities are Delhi, Mumbai, Seoul, and Tokyo. Look at the full list and tell me why the C-indies aren’t all over this?!
Seriously, go look at any clip from the Tokyo or Tel Aviv or Brooklyn contributors. Look how much fun they’re having. Now imagine the Yuran Session or Soul Live Box video team matched with a personable host for the mini interview (e.g., Mami Ku, Ball, ciacia, iNCH Chua, Waa Wei, Achino Chang, Peggy Hsu, Helen Feng, Jonathan Alpart).
By the way, if you enjoy a variety of musical styles in your YT feed, you really need to add Balcony TV. =D

Tomorrow (Fri.) night at APA mini, Iron House and Ma-te Lin. Taipei Times events listing: “Electro rockers Iron House (鐵屋) team up with trip-hop artists Ma-te Lin (林瑪黛) at indie music venue APA Mini (小地方展演空間).” And guitarist Yi-Chi Lin 林易祺 rehearsed with the help of Asha’s chicken. Just to avoid confusion: guitarists pick, chickens peck. =D After […]

By the way, if the name Moon Romantic seems familiar, you might have seen photos from live shows at their busy Tokyo location. The stage has a huge moon for a backdrop; here’s a shot from Iron House’ July show on their Japan tour:

stayinblue posted her thoughtful review of the new Wonfu, (Papa I Want To Be A Star) complete with her video/song selections. I completely agree about Xiaomin’s sentimental side that has come forth since the birth of his child. He’s posted a number of sweet and heartfelt things, most recently about his father. It’s a beautiful thing! =D

“Packer is a brand new digital distribution service for indie labels / artists / bands launched in 2014. Packer is your Gateway to Chinese Market.”
Very interesting way to simplify things. It also says available in China soon, listing the various outlets on the mainland. If you click ‘success stories’, they list how Packer has worked for 5 TW bands, including Echo, 929, Queen Suitcase and Flux.
Check out the Packer page at StreetVoice: http://packer.streetvoice.com/ The page can be viewed in Chinese, Taiwanese, English and Japanese. Select language at the very bottom.
Just noticed they also did the promo in the mysterious language:

Google Translate has been getting very aggressive lately in Chrome, anyone besides me notice that? It’s even trying to translate all English pages into… ENGLISH.
LOL, it’s rearranging words, randomly capitalizing words, and generally messing with my eyesight and my brain. 0_0

This YT channel Yoy Yay seem to be a lower budget version of Yuran Session; if you head over there you can see they did 3 songs with Freckles a few months ago. p.s. When I say ‘lower budget’, I just mean the random locations for their videos. =D
