Finally, we have the “Bass-driven Math-Rock” trio from Kaoshiung, Elephant Gym (大象體操).
Elephant Gym are actually involved in the next showcase as well, a two-night event taking place this Friday/Saturday, Feb. ½ at Legacy Taipei. (The website seems to indicate that this 2013 event is StreetVoice’s review of promising bands from the 2012 showcases, plus some new bands)

Next up, a band we haven’t posted until now: TheJUNK (帆人), “Stoner Psychedelic NoiseJam” music from Taipei. Both guitarists sing, and make an awesome wall of guitar sound. The song is called 漫漫醉, which Google translates as Long Drunk.

This is just perfect: Emily Pu from Riceing Star (米星星與她的好伙伴) entered the Annidora (安妮朵拉) cover version contest. Here is her version of Neverland (永無島). Beautiful job!
By the way, there are at least 33 entries so far!

Here is another clip from the October The Next Big Thing TW showcase of bands. The ‘slowcore’ band Double Cheese (大波起司) from Taiwan. Some songs I’ve heard are shoegaze/post rock instrumentals, but this tune 寬 (Wide) has vocals, by keyboard/guitarist Li Lai (李荔).
Looking at their facebook, it seems they made have just added a new member on vocals.

This is quite a lovely pairing: Ellen Joyce Loo / Lu Kai Tong (卢凯彤) and Waa Wei Ruxuan (魏如萱).
The performance was from late Novemmber, 2012, during Hong Kong Week-Sing for Generations at Legacy Taipei. The song is by Ellen Loo, called 活該活該 (Deserve Deserve – This Land Was Made For You And Me). It’s a song from her 2012 Mandarin album, You Quietly Hide (你安安静静地躲起来).
As I’m sure many of you know, Ellen Loo is one half of the famous Hong Kong duo, at17.
