Another item I spotted on Blow is The Pancakes (aka Dejay Choi) announced she is looking for an arranger (or collaborater?) on her next album.
So I go to her fb to see what’s what, and she had apparently wanted the announcement to go out in English as well, so she used Google Translate. And that’s what you see in the photo. =D

She knows that the translation is a wreck, but she knew English speakers on Facebook would at least get the gist of her announcement.

If anyone wants to have a go at a better translation, feel free to comment, I really want to know what “Do not attempt to bomb his legs drain leakage” is supposed to be.

Hey, I was wondering if you could reccomend some bands like “The Marshmallow Kisses.” :-)

Hi there!
For the benefit of everyone, The Marshmallow Kisses are a twee / ‘Shibuya-kei’ duo from Hong Kong. (More info at Last.fm)

3 other artists from HK that are not as twee but still within range are my little airport (lo-fi and darker), arumimihifumi (Ko Yuk Fei) (有耳非文) (a quite diverse ‘Shibuya-kei’ style, with breathy vocals. Do a YouTube search of 有耳非文 to hear great examples), and The Pancakes (Dejay Choi) (childlike vocal, garage pop music). Since it is so hard to find exact matches in music, I’d suggest you try all 3.

From Taiwan, you should try City Cat (巧手貓&城市貓) (folk-pop, hear them at StreetVoice), PepperCats (胡椒貓) (happy pop/rock, hear them at StreetVoice)

From mainland China, the only band that comes to my mind is Smart Kin (漂亮亲戚)

I hope that helps! I’ll tag this with twee, and add to it / refine it, so we can all have a decent starting point for C-indie twee music. =D

UPDATE: Another mainland duo you could fit into the twee category is 游唱团 Youchangtuan . Male/Female vocals, all catchy and upbeat songs, a very relaxed vibe. Hear lots of songs at the douban. =D
